Safety Briefing
At Loose Cannon Fishing Charters & Sunset Tours LLC, your safety is our top priority. The safety equipment carried onboard our boats exceeds the US Coast Guard requirements and test equipment monthly. In addition, we undergo voluntary USCG Auxiliary safety inspections to make sure we’re not missing anything. Your captain will go over these safe items with your party at the beginning of the charter should you have any questions.
Safety Equipment Carried Onboard
- 1 – Offshore Life Raft located in the bow of the boat.
- 2 – Category II 406MHz ACR EPIRB (1 located on the portside transom, 1 located in the life raft)
- 1 – 25W fixed mobile VHF radio, equipped, MMSI programmed, and GPS connected (located on the console)
- 1 – 5W handheld VHF backup radio located inside orange Yeti go box)
- 1 – Yeti orange go box containing Emergency gear (at the bow of the boat)
- At least 1 commercial Type I Personal Flotation Device (life jacket) per person onboard (located in the bow storage compartment)
- Each PDF is equipped with SOLAS grade reflective tape.
- Each PDF is equipped with a LED waterproof USCG/SOLAS personal distress light on the shoulder.
- Each PDF is equipped with an emergency whistle attached to a lanyard.
- 1 – Life Ring throwable with lanyard and floating line
- Commercial Visual Distress Signals (located inside orange Yeti go box)
- Sound Producing Devices
- 1 – Whistle (located on top of the console)
- 1 – Air horn (located inside orange Yeti go box)
- 2 – B-II Fire Extinguishers (2 on mounted on port side of console)
- 2 – Automatic 1500 GPH Automatic Bilge Pump (with backup onboard, crash pump located inside orange Yeti go box)
- 3 – TruPlug Emergency Hole Plugs (1 located at each thru hull connection)
- 1 – Offshore First Aid kits (located inside orange Yeti go box)
- Bolt cutters large enough to cut the largest gauge hook size we carry onboard.
- Nautical Charts for each area we navigate along with equipment needed to navigate using those charts in the event of Navigation Systems failure (located inside orange Yeti go box) If you are not able to swim, or are not a confident swimmer, please let us know when you book your trip, and we’ll bring along a low-profile inflatable vest or waist pack.
